First conference on Stem cell
and Regenerative Medicine at King Saud University 17/10/2009
The 1st conference on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine will be held from Saturday, November 7th, 2009 through Monday, November 9th, 2009 (19-21 of Dhual-Qa dah 1430) in King Khalid University Hospital & King Saud University.
The conference is jointly organized by The Stem Cell Unit in Anatomy Department -College of Medicine, Continuous Medical Education Center of King Khalid University Hospital, Australian National University and University of Southern Denmark.
The program addresses the latest development in research and its therapeutical application with modern technology on
Stem Cell Biology. This conference has been organized and led by Dr.Abdhullah Aldahmash, Chairman, Anatomy Department, College of Medicine, King Saud University.
This Conference hopefully will increase the awareness of the Stem Cell Research programs in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and provide platform for further advances in the field within the kingdom.
Especially as many new technical innovations have been introduced in King Saud University and a better regulatory framework is being developed for integrating with international collaboration.
This conference will also discuss the Ethics and related issues on stem cell fields, especially the stem cell treatable diseases which are common in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the end of the last day of the conference, there will be discussion and open meeting between national and international speakers with patients and the media.
This conference is accredited by the Saudi Society for Medical Specialties, 18CME Hours.

postgraduate student at Stem Cell Unit 2/10/2010 Stem Cell Unit
wishes to congratulate the first postgraduate student at Stem
Cell Unit- College of Medicine in King Saud University, Asma Al
Shammary, for her graduation in MSc. in Stem cell and her thesis
(Study of the capability of isolated embryonic stem cells from
Albino mice to generate neural cells in vitro).

A stem cell project (Novel models of hind limb ischemia
in mice a pilot study) submitted by Hussain Mobarak, a
medical student at King Saud University has been
accepted as a poster at the Canadian Society for
Vascular Surgery conference, Ottawa, September 25-26,
2009.
A stem cell Unit obtained a
research grand 2/10/2010 Stem Cell Unit at College of Medicine / King Saud
University - King Khaled Hospital obtained a research
grand from the special program to support medical
research of the European Union to conduct a study on the
use of nano-technology to develop the capacity of stem
cells in collaboration with Dr. Mostapha Kassem ,
principal researcher in the project from the University
of Southern Denmark, the first world scientist that has
been allowed to use embryonic stem cells in clinical
trials by the European Union.
First International Symposium and Workshop on Up To Date Obstetrics and Gynecology April 2010 Stem Cell Unit participated in the first International Symposium and Workshop on Up To Date Obstetrics and Gynecology, April 2009 at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by a lecture by Dr. Abdullah Aldahmash, head of Stem Cell Unit.
Introduction to Stem Cell Technology May 2010 Stem Cell Unit has participated in “Introduction to Stem Cell Technology” at research center in Science and Medical Studies Departments, King Saud University, May 2009.
Stem Cell Research: Status and Etichs May 2010 Stem Cell Unit has organized a lecture “Stem Cell Research: Status and Etichs” by Dr. May Al-Nbaheen - Laboratory Manager of Stem Cell Unit - in Biochemistry Department - College of Medicine - King Saud University and King Khaled University Hospital in May 2009.
