Stem Cell Unit in King Saud University is considered the 1st of kind in Middle East regard its interest in scientific research in stem cells.

The unit's basis lies in the College of Medicine, Anatomy Department on which special laboratories has been established for the stem cell research supported with the academic staff that are specialized in this field.

This work has taken years of preparations but the actual beginning was on 1427.

The unit is distinguished for its local relationships with King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, King Fahd Medical City and international relationships with universities and prestigious international centers specialized in this field as Shefield University in United Kingdom, Monash University in Australia and University of South Denmark in Denmark.

The stem cell unit is growing rapidly and attracting a lot of scientific expertise and its being equipped with the latest improvements to facilitate its development in modern stem cell research.
